Dermaplaning

What Is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation that consists of using a 10 gauge scalpel to gently scrape off the top layer of dulling dead skin cells in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion, and is often used to remove vellus hair (aka peach fuzz). It is a painless procedure that can be compared to the sensation of shaving your legs, but in this case, it’s on your face.

How does It work?

First, the aesthetician will cleanse and thoroughly dry your skin. Next, she’ll pull an area of your skin taut with one hand, and hold a sterile 10 gauge blade at a 45 degree angle in the other hand and use short, swift strokes to scrape off dead skin cells and peach fuzz. The procedure essentially removes 21 days’ worth of dead skin cells, so it’s best to allow the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle before your next treatment.

Does Dermaplaning hurt?

Absolutely not. During treatment with a licensed professional, you will not experience any pain at all. Imagine the feeling of shaving your legs, there is a sensation never any pain.

What are the benefits?

Dermaplaning can help minimize the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles and dull skin. The procedure can reveal smoother, firmer and healthier skin.

How often is Dermaplaning recommended?

Depending on different skin types, it’s recommended you receive a dermaplaning treatment once a month (4 weeks apart). That is if you want to keep up the results long term.
