VirtueRF Microneedling at PuraVida MedSpa
RF microneedling combines the benefits of traditional microneedling with those of RF heat energy. It involves stamping a small device tipped with tiny, sterile needles over the entire face.
These needles create microwounds in the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production. At the same time, RF energy channeled through the needles heats the skin, causing it to firm and constrict for a more taut and youthful appearance.
While RF microneedling is most popular for the face, neck, chest and hands, it can be performed anywhere on the body to reduce the appearance of stretch marks, hyperpigmentation and other skin irregularities.
Why Choose Us for RF Microneedling?
We take pride in providing leading-edge services to all our patients. That’s why we use the VirtueRF system, a ground-breaking platform that offers a sophisticated and versatile RF microneedling experience. VirtueRF treatments are practically pain-free and require far less social downtime than other technologies.
All our RF microneedling sessions are performed by a licensed esthetician under the supervision of our head physician, Dr. Leslie Apgar.

What to Expect During an RF Microneedling Session
Arrive at your session with a freshly washed face that is free of makeup and skin care products. Your aesthetician will first photograph your face to establish a baseline before treatment. They will apply a numbing agent and double cleanse the treatment area.
They will then pass the device over your entire face, a process that takes an average of 45 minutes. (If you’re having multiple areas of the body treated, expect to stay longer.)
Lastly, they apply a powerful serum containing beneficial ingredients to soothe the skin and stimulate the healing process.
Recovery and Results
After your VirtueRF session, your skin may be red for several hours. Fortunately, due to the ultraprecise delivery system, you won’t experience any of the swelling or visible pinpricks that are associated with traditional microneedling.
For 24 hours post treatment, do not wear makeup or apply any skin care products except for a fragrance-free sunscreen of at least SPF 30. Avoid sweating and stay out of the sun.
The benefits of your session will be visible within 4–6 weeks but may take several months to develop fully. Your skin will be smoother, firmer and have fewer irregularities. For best results, you’ll likely want to undergo several RF microneedling sessions. Your treatment plan will be discussed in detail at your consultation.
The longevity of your RF microneedling results will be determined by your daily habits. Avoid excessive sun exposure and smoking; wear sunscreen and maintain a good skin care routine, to enjoy the results for months to come.
Related Treatments
Many patients choose to add another procedure to their RF microneedling session for greater benefits. For instance, you may undergo CO2 laser resurfacing after your VirtueRF treatment to address more surface-level skin concerns.
We use a gentle laser that provides all the benefits of CO2 resurfacing without the downtime traditionally associated with it.
Or you may add PRP therapy, which uses your blood’s platelets and plasma in a special preparation that is applied to your face after microneedling. Popularly called a “vampire facial,” this technique kickstarts the healing process and further encourages collagen production.

RF Microneedling FAQ
How does the procedure differ from other RF treatments?
While many RF treatments treat the concerns of aging skin, most only deliver RF energy to the skin’s surface. With the added microneedling component, this energy is directed into the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate collagen production and cell regeneration much more effectively.
Is RF microneedling painful?
This procedure is virtually painless, thanks to a topical numbing cream applied beforehand and VirtueRF’s robotic precision delivery system. This exclusive system creates far less trauma to the skin than other similar devices.
What are the possible side effects?
Side effects from RF microneedling include temporary redness or swelling. In comparison to other systems, VirtueRF’s advanced technology minimizes these unwanted effects.
How long does an RF microneedling session take?
The length of your session depends on the size of the area being treated. That being said, expect your session to run 20–60 minutes.
How many sessions will I need?
Most of our patients report seeing the best results after 3–4 sessions scheduled 4–6 weeks apart. After the initial series, we recommend scheduling an appointment every 6 months to maintain your firmer, younger look.
